Employers responsibilities for the MSPP are simple. Employers are required to remit contributions and provide member information as defined in the collective agreement.
Employer and employee contribution rates under the MSPP are bargained. As such, rates are fixed for the term of the collective agreement limiting the employer’s risk of rising costs. The employer’s contribution rate is the only cost under the MSPP, unlike other pension plan designs.
Employers are required to remit monthly contributions to InBenefits as per the terms of the applicable collective agreement. Payroll may be internal or external and the plan is able to support any remittance method to meet employer needs.
Employers are required to provide InBenefits with census information upon enrolment, leave information throughout membership and termination information when employment ends.
Contributing employers can save time and reduce risk by using the MSPP e-Site Employer Portal to conduct transactions online. You can provide employee information including leave of absence, WSIB, and retro payment information and communicate with InBenefits though the Employer Portal.
Additionally, InBenefits is always here to help. Once you become a contributing MSPP employer, our staff is ready to answer any questions you may have about the plan or about the portal.
